Health Care Career Forecast: Continued Hot
Regardless of general economic trends, health care is-and will remain for the foreseeable future-one of America’s strongest growth industries. One reason is the aging of a large segment of the population; another is the new focus on health care reform. And as medical technology improves survival rates for severely ill and injured patients, the demand for care and therapy continues to rise.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 7 of the 20 fastest-growing occupations are in health care. They forecast 3 million new health care jobs in the decade from 2006 to 2016, more than in any other industry. You can read about the employment outlook for specific careers on the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook website.
