Robert Booker is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Exercise Science program under Dr. Holmes’ tutelage. Robert completed both his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Movement Science and master’s degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management from Missouri State University. Robert is part of the first class of Robert Smith, MD Scholars at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. This program is a new component of the Jackson Heart Study, seeking to better understand cardiovascular disease risk factors in African-Americans, train young scientists, and improve the health of communities. Robert’s research interests include physical activity epidemiology and the metabolic syndrome.
