Sachini is a first-year doctoral student in the exercise science program. She is originally from Sri Lanka, where she pursued her medical degree and practiced for five years before coming to the USA. She earned her Master’s degree in exercise physiology with an emphasis on biomechanics here in Mississippi State University. Her Master’s thesis was concentrated on lower extremity anatomical alterations and footwear on postural stability. During her doctoral degree, she will expand on her research area, which is posture, balance, gait, and falls with especial concern in minimizing lower extremity injuries in ergonomic population. Upon completion of the degree, she plans to peruse a career in research and academia.
