The Department of Kinesiology Hosts FIRE speaker for Graduate Seminar

(November 11, 2022), Starkville, MS -- The Department of Kinesiology hosted Tyler Coward, Senior Legislative Counsel at FIRE (The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression) on Friday November 11th for a WebEx Graduate Seminar. The topic was "Free Speech and Due Process Rights for Faculty and Grad Students". Mr. Coward spoke for an hour on three primary issues "free speech rights on campus", "academic freedom" and "due process on campus". He then answered questions on a wide range of topics from mandatory "DEI statements" for job applications, to Title IX, to whether or not faculty should be free to speak their mind on controversial topics in the classroom.
